When they make snakeskin accessories and shoes...is a snake harmed?

When snakeskin products are made, is the animal harmed? Or do they simply use the skin that the snakes have shed?

I know plenty have given the right answer, but I am here to put my two cents in.





Does anything that is made from animal hide/fur leave the animal alive?? OK you got me wool from sheep. But sheepskin requires their deaths. Fur coats and such require dead animals. Leather goods, be it baseball glove or shoes require the cow to be dead.





If you think that snakeskin goods leave the snake alive. LOL!! you go ahead wrangle yourself one..and PEAL just a little like PURPLE FREAK says.

No they do not use shed skin.

Reply:The shed skin of a snake if fairly transparent - go to the zoo to see one - otherwise he's dead - they probably chop off their heads, unless of course you do the humane thing and buy faux snakeskin.

Reply:Sadly, the snake must lose it's entire, living skin to make sturdy snake leather. The shed skin is only a thin, fragile layer that is not use for much but a curiosity.





Note to "Megegie": They do NOT use the snake meat in the leather. The meat must be removed before tanning or the skin will spoil.

if the products are fake, it is made out of fake leather or other material and the snakeskin pattern is manually made.
