If I am paying for my bridesmaids' shoes and accessories .. is it alright if I don't get their "ok" before choosing what they will wear?
Bridesmaid accessories?
I would say they should have some input into what they're wearing, but I understand your struggle.
For my wedding, my BMs wore navy floor length gowns, so you couldn't see their shoes anyway. I told them to get whatever shoes they wanted that would be comfortable to wear all day. I think they all picked navy shoes, but I honestly can't remember. I also told them to wear whatever jewelry they wanted as long as it was white gold, silver or platinum (our colors were blue and silver). I'm not a big fan of matchy matchy bridesmaid jewelry and neither were they.
In the end, it all worked out great. They were comfortable wearing what they wanted to wear, and since I wasn't uptight about it, I think they tried even harder to pick something that I would like as well (adult women generally don't like it when someone dictates what they should wear).
If you can see the shoes and would like them to match, I would pick out several styles on your own, take pictures or find them online and email them to your BMs. If you can't see the shoes under the dress, I would seriously consider letting them pick their own in a color and possibly a style (sandal, closed toe, etc) that you specify.
For accessories, you can select several things you like, and send them pictures to get their input on. I think that's the best way to go - everyone's happy and it's not actually that much effort on your part (I suspect you may have some ideas about what you want anyway. LOL)
Good luck!

Reply:It's such a simple thing to give the women who will be standing up for you a little consideration and courtesy. Unless they've been driving you crazy with unreasonable demands, let them have a say in what they'll be wearing that day. Yes, you want them to look nice for your wedding, but remember these are grown women and chances are they want to look nice as well.
Reply:Your buying.... you pick. Just make sure the heels are comfortable for everyone... don't pick shoes people can't walk in.
Reply:If you are buying, I think you should have a say in it. But remember...they have to wear those shoes, so at least make sure they're comfortable.
If you don't care, just give them a limit and go with that.
